Franco Indian Education Trust

The Franco Indian Education Trust, formed in August 2017, aims at supporting mobility of students, faculty, researchers and young professionals in diverse domains from India to France and vice-versa for any long term or short term training or academic programme.

The Franco-Indian Education Trust, a non-profit charitable and educational Trust, is a joint initiative of the Embassy of France in India and Mr Prshant K Lahoti, Managing Trustee of the Krishnakriti Foundation. It was established in August 2017 and was unveiled in March 2018 during the State visit of President Emmanuel Macron to India.

The Trust aims to increase the mobility of students between India and France, provide equal opportunities to women and lower income groups and empower individuals through education. It offers scholarships to Indian students to pursue their higher studies in France.

The Trust is currently inviting applications for the following scholarship programmes:

1.Legrand Empowering scholarship programme

Offered by the French electrical group Legrand, the programme supports the education of Indian students from low-income families and children of armed forces personnel (preference will be given to children of martyrs). It was launched in May 2018 with the support of the French Embassy in India.

The scholarship is offered at Master’s level in the field of Management, Science, Engineering, Finance and Social Science.

The scholarship will be awarded for up to a maximum of one academic year (September to June) and covers a monthly stipend of INR 59,500; visa fee waiver by campus France. It can be renewed for a second year and will be subject to students’ academic performance and attendance record in the first year of master studies.

2. Shikhar Thales scholarship programme

Offered by Thales India private limited, the programme supports the education of meritorious Indian students from low-income families. The programme has been launched in association with Franco Indian Education Trust and with the support of the French Embassy in India.

The scholarship is offered at Master’s level in the field of Engineering (Aerospace/ communications/ artificial intelligence/ embedded systems)

It covers monthly stipend of 700 euros; visa and campus France fee waiver; social security

3. Amba Dalmia scholarship programme:

The scholarship is named after Amba Dalmia, the late daughter of Dr Gun Nidhi Dalmia of the Dalmia group. The Amba Dalmia scholarship programme was established in 2018.

The education of young Indian girls has always been a matter close to his heart. Thus, he has made substantial financial contributions to this endeavour.

The scholarship is designed to empower and encourage Indian women applicants to pursue studies in the fields of music, sports, theatre, cinema, gastronomy and arts in France.

The scholarship covers a monthly allowance for living expenses, visa and Campus France fee waiver. The scholarship does not cover any other expenses, such as flight tickets, accommodation, insurance or other travel-related costs.

4. Bahman Samandari scholarship programme:

The scholarship is established by Mrs Christine and Mr Kazem Samandari, co-founders of L’Opéra, a high-end Pâtisserie, Boulangerie and Salon de Thé specialised in French products in India.

This scholarship has been endowed to celebrate the memory of Bahman Samandari, who dedicated his life to the promotion of higher academic learning and to spread peace and understanding among people.

It is specifically designed for students who wish to pursue higher studies in Culinary Arts in France.

The selected students benefit from a monthly allowance to cover living costs in France, and visa and Campus France fee waivers. To qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must be a resident and citizen of India and be at least 18 years of age or above at the time of application.

Amba Dalmia Scholarship:

 

4 candidates benefitted from the scholarship programme in 2018. They are currently pursuing higher studies in acting, hospitality and gastronomy and are enrolled in the following French institutions: France École Nationale Supérieure de Pâtisserie, Institut Paul Bocuse, École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq and École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle. 

 

 

Legrand Scholarship:

 

Legrand contributed to finance the cost of the studies of 14 Indian students, who went to pursue their Master’s programmes at various public and private universities such as Paris school of Economics, Sciences Po, Rennes School of Business, Université Jean Monnet etc. They came from a diversity of backgrounds: Economics, Engineering, Information Technology, Journalism etc.
