Happening on Campus

On June 18, Dr. Courtois - EPITA's Managing Director and Mr. Bardèche - EPITA's Vice President graduated the 2010 cohort thus delivering the Engineering, the Apprenticeship and the International Master diploma in the Unesco House.
The ceremony emphasized the future success of the new graduates and strongly encouraged them to connect and remain in touch with the EPITA community.

UOS Program

On June 29 & 30, EPITA had the pleasure to host the University of Seoul Global Frontier Leadership Program on its Le Kremlin-Bicêtre Campus. This pioneering group of 12 students was partly funded by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in order to conduct and International Academic Program. During their stay at EPITA, they actively participated in a series of custom-designed lectures, toured Paris and interacted with Epiteans who joined the International Team to support this summer pilot summer session. UOS Students then formed groups of 3 and departed to their individual EU region continuing destinations spanning from Italy to Switzerland. We are proud to have been selected by UOS for this summer tour and look forward to renewing this experience in 2012 !

From the Students and for the Students
International mobility at Epita
Epita considers that an international experience is a priority for its students. To complete their academic program and obtain an Engineering degree, they have to complete at least one semester abroad. It can be in the form of an academic semester or of an internship in a foreign enterprise.
Why? : Because English is the language used in the business world, and our students will need to use it, in the actual context of globalization. It has become a necessity. For the whole majority of them, they will work in multicultural teams. That is why it is also important for them to get used to a different culture, to learn how to adapt, and the best way to do it is to be immersed in another culture, far away from their country of origin.

Most of our students do their semester abroad during the second year of their studies, that is, the second year of preparatory classes. They are allowed to do it later during the curriculum at Epita, but we think it is the most appropriate and convenient period for them to do it.
After having questioned our students about their possible wishes, we can already expect that more than 215 students will embark on a semester abroad next year! For 2012, we already have some trends about student choices of destinations.

Concerning internship, 41 of our students completed an internship abroad in 2011, most of them in the United States and also for a good part of them in the United Kingdom.

Graphique Graphique

The international dimension of our school is also represented by the 25 nationalities present on campus with the integration of foreign students in Epita's programs.

Bertrand CournaudBertrand Cournaud, InfoSPE student at EPITA is about to end his semester abroad. He has spent 5 months in Prague, Czech Republic, thanks to the Erasmus exchange program and has liked this experience...

My first year at EPITA, InfoSUP, was quite new for me of course, with a totally different rhythm compared to high school. The first semester of the second year, InfoSPE, was the continuity of the InfoSUP-year, but the main difference is the second semester abroad, which I was really looking forward to.
I chose Prague for different raisons. The main one is that I really wanted to be in a language immersion. This semester was a unique chance to improve my English and I knew that only two of us decided to go there. So when I arrived in Prague, I wasn't with any other French students and I was forced to speak English (which is exactly what I wanted). I spent most of my semester speaking English with people with various nationalities (Spanish, German, Italian, Hungarian, Latvian, Swedish, Finnish, American, etc.). I'm really happy that I managed to spend most of the semester speaking English.

François GirardotLouis-André SalbanFrançois Girardot and Louis-André Salban are ING3 students and left EPITA with the Erasmus program for a semester of studies at Utrecht University, Netherlands. Now they will start their final internship...

We both joined EPITA in ING1 in 2008. In our ING2-year we chose GISTR and SRS as specializations. Then we wanted to enjoy the opportunity offered by the school to go abroad for a semester and discover a new country and its culture.
The Netherlands is a top-grade destination to practise English, as a large majority of inhabitants, and especially students are fluent in that language. Furthermore no foreign audiovisual production is dubbed in Dutch, only subtitled.

Parting Thoughts
Bastille Day in France

Bastille Day is the French national holiday which is celebrated on the 14th of July of each year. In France, it is formally called La Fête Nationale (The National Celebration) and commonly le quatorze juillet (the fourteenth of July).

Bastille History
It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14th July, 1789. The anniversary of the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison rose as a symbol of the uprising of the modern nation, and of the reconciliation of all French people inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution.

Events and traditions of the day
Festivities are held on the morning of July 14th, on the Champs-Élysées avenue in Paris in front of the President of the Republic. The Bastille Day Military Parade is the French military parade that has been held on the morning of July 14th each year in Paris since 1880. The parade passes down the Champs-Elysées from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde, where the President of the French Republic, his government and foreign ambassadors to France stand. This is a popular event in France, broadcast on French TV, and is the oldest and largest regular military parade in the world.
