June 2012
EPITA International Newsletter

More than a year after the first edition of EPITA's International Newsletter, we are really proud to present you this June edition.

As the International Office is getting ready for the new academic year to come, important changes and reorganizations will be undertaken.

After almost 10 years as Erasmus Coordinator, Daniela Becker will leave the International Office this summer to totally focus her activity at EPITA to one of our Research Labs: the LRDE. We are happy to dedicate a special thanks to Daniela in this newsletter. Célia Fernandez will be in charge of coordinating the Erasmus programs.

We are also happy to welcome back Marie Sempéré, who was in Parental Leave for a year, and reintegrated the team beginning of May. Among other responsibilities (like student mobility), Marie will be also in charge of developing our new international program: EPITA's Summer School !

Even if I highlighted these fundamental changes for EPITA's International & Development Office, you will discover other exciting news in this edition.

Have a good time reading our June edition,

Yours sincerely,

Christophe ROUVRAIS

Happening on Campus
Final of the PROLOGIN 2012

From the 27th to the 30th of April, the 20th edition of the programming competition of the PROLOGIN association dived 100 programmers of less than 20 years into a medieval atmosphere as well by the subject as they had to handle that by the atmosphere of the competition. By the end of a 36 hours programming battle medieval game, the candidates found themselves around a typically medieval banquet.
As every year, the ranking reserved some surprises. We shall notice in particular a young 6th 15-year-old classified candidate. Anouk Paradis only began to learn to code last year ! And as every year, this 20th edition of the finale of PROLOGIN ended with the traditional foam bath.

APPLE'S Day 2012 Edition

This day dedicated to the Apple universe will take place on the school campus Friday, June 1, from 10:00am to 6:00pm.
Organized by EpiMac, EPITA's Mac student association, the event will alternate lectures and workshops for students and professionals alike. We are proud to host this event and look forward to its success!

Parting Thoughts
The « Fête de la musique »

Festival takes place worldwide on June 21st (date which coincides mostly with the first day of the summer in the north hemisphere), mainly in the evening and at night until the early morning of the next day. It is at present celebrated in hundreds of countries.

The "Fête de la musique" festival is sometimes also known under the name "World Music Day" either under names translated literally as "Fiesta de la Música" (Spanish), "Festa della Musica" (Italian), Święto Muzyki (Polish), Praznic Musike ( Bosnian ) or Dünya Müzik Günü (Turkish).

The "Fête de la musique" festival has for vocation to promote the music in two manners: it encourages the amateur musicians to perform live in concert voluntarily in streets and public places, and thanks to the organization of numerous free concerts, it allows a wide public to reach music of all kinds and origins (classical music, jazz, rock, world music, traditional music, etc.).

And you? What are the festivities for the "Fête de la musique" festival in your hometown?
